UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester provides outstanding sports medicine care through a group of private practice orthopedic physicians as well as through a team of sports medicine specialists on staff at the Sports Medicine Center located on our Hahnemann Campus.
The Sports Medicine Center is recognized throughout the region for its successful program dedicated to the diagnosis and treatment of injuries associated with sports and athletics. As an integral part of the UMass Memorial Musculoskeletal Center of Excellence, the Sports Medicine Center's mission is to provide total care, from treating injuries to optimal healthfulness, and returning all patients to an active lifestyle as quickly and safely as possible.
The Sports Medicine Center was founded by Arthur Pappas, MD, former medical director of the Boston Red Sox. It offers patients a multidisciplinary team of advanced, fellowship-trained physicians who are faculty members of the nationally recognized UMass Medical School, providing access to the latest clinical information in treating, rehabilitating and preventing sports injuries.
